Porta Portese

I created this gouache painting of Via Marmorata for the exhibition "extra-ordinary places!" by the Picaro collective. For me, this spot marks the border between my everyday Rome – Trastevere – and the rest of the city. The extraordinary lies in stepping out of the daily routine and exploring new realities. Tram 3 passes through here, a slow, slow little train that starts from Trastevere station, winds through the entire center of Rome – past the Colosseum, San Giovanni – and reaches San Lorenzo, slowly taking you or bringing you closer to wherever you want to go.
